ECON STUDENTS COMPETE IN FOREX SIMULATION
The "Bilkent Econ Forex Competition," organized for Department of Economics students by Integral Menkul DeÄŸerler A.Åž., took place March 4-15.
In the months prior to the competition, students had completed two full days of training sessions, allowing them to extend their technical knowledge regarding foreign exchange markets and trading in those markets. The information students acquired during the training sessions, complemented by the skills they had acquired in their coursework, allowed them to function as active traders in the simulation competition.
The virtual traders followed all real-time economic and political news and, implementing their technical knowledge, traded foreign exchange and commodities in the virtual market over the 10 days of the simulation. The returns from these trades determined the winners of the competition.
Gizem Ersan, who more than doubled her initial portfolio, finished in first place and was awarded a two-month internship at Integral Menkul Değerler A.Ş. Simay Yavuz and Emre Ünlü completed the competition in second and third places respectively and won I-pads. The award ceremony took place on April 15, with the three students receiving their awards from Integral Board member Osman Önder Ulukartal, Integral CEO Kıvanç Memişoğlu and Rector Abdullah Atalar.
